If your water bill this month seems much higher than it did the previous month, we recommend you call the office. Some meters are still read by hand and therefore could have been misread. We will send someone out to double check your meter reading to ensure its accuracy. If the meter reading is accurate, then you may have a leak.
If your water pressure is lower than normal, you may have a water leak. If you detect a water leak, call our office. Call us to report low pressure even if you cannot detect a leak.
If you do any outdoor watering or irrigating, adjusting your landscaping irrigation can provide the greatest savings. Replacing your home’s older water wasting fixtures could also make a difference. Making sure your dishwasher and washing machine are full could lower your usage. Always make sure toilets are not leaking (even a little) It’s amazing how much water can be lost in a leaky toilet.
The easiest way to determine if you have a leak is to check the indicator on your meter. To do this, turn off all water both indoors and out. After all water is turned off, look at the indicator on your meter. If the indicator says ‘forward’ you know you have a leak. To determine if the leak is indoors or outdoors, turn off the water to all buildings. If the indicator on the meter still reads ‘forward’ the leak is outdoors. If the the indicator stops, the leak in indoors.
